The Mk27 MOD54 is by far the best version to date as it is now made from injection moulded plastic which offers a superbly robust product. Further adjustments have also been made to the design aswell. The MOD 54 sheet film processing insert allows the processing of 5×4″ sheet film in a Paterson film tank (in 3, 5 or 8 reel tank sizes). This is really is ideal for anyone who wants to process 5×4″ sheet film as easily as 35mm and 120. Only 1 litre of chemistry is required and up to 6 sheets may be processed at any one time. This insert is for use in conjunction with the Paterson 3, 5 or 8 Reel Tank.

A pre-owned item, you will receive what you see on the pictures.

  • MOD54 Technical Info

The MOD54 is an adaptor to process 6 sheets of 4x5" sheet film. This adaptor is designed to fit in a Paterson 3 Reel tank (model PTP116- the tank that takes 3 standard reels).

TEST & TEST your dev process before working on important work. And please be patient and practice using the MOD54. It will take time and many sheets of film to learn how to use it properly.

1 litre of Chemicals is required, enough to fill the tank and fully immerse the sheets.

Load the sheets lining up the ridges on the sheets with the ridges on the TOP of the MOD54.  So the emulsion side is facing inwards.

Agitate as per developer instruction. Generally for the first 60sec then 10sec every min.

Don't be too shy with the Agitation. Likewise its not a cocktail so don't shake it wildly.

Tap the tank well after each agitation.

The MOD54 works best with standard chemical setups, but again test anything before you try it on important work.

When shooting it's also a good idea to shoot at least two sheets per shot, on many levels this is best practice.

It will not work with 9x12 sheets.

Stand development and Rotary processes will not give good results.

ROLLI RPX400 & Infared films are too thin to use in the MOD54 with out special consideration, see my workaround video.

See videos on MOD54 website below for more detailed instructions.
